Music for the exhibition MIGUEL ANTONIO HORN: DISSONANCE
by Daniel de Jesús
Using mangled and misshapen pots and pans, I collaborated with artist Miguel Horn to create a soundscape for his exhibition Dissonance. I recorded Miguel Horn performs drums and breaking pots and pans to create a tapestry of sound to immerse the visitor into the anxiety and emergency of Venezuela’s economic and political crisis. The show evokes the “cacerolazos” of Venezuela, protests in which citizens take to the streets and bang pots and pans in response to the crises currently gripping the country. The cacerolazos epitomize the public’s outcry, while the curved plated planes allude to the shields used by the police to subdue the crowds.
