La Bufanda Floral 1
La Bufanda Floral 1
Hand painted print. 11X17 inches. Matted. Inkjet and Watercolor on Stonehenge archival paper.
This work is part of a series of 3 images that celebrates femme beauty and the headdress. Many women in my life utilize the headscarf as a part of their dress. Only when I investigated my family's heritage did I learn this practice stemmed from their African and mixed-race ancestors.
The scarf is more than just a way to protect hair; today, it is a fashion statement where bold colors and patterns are the styles. The illustrations celebrate this beauty with a play on floral designs inspired by Colonial prints. The series is a theme and variation as each design is hand-painted to create a unique image.
The Works are produced using digital printing on Stonehenge paper and hand painted using watercolor and felt marker. They are made lovingly with a penchant for romanticism and honor.
